A group of around 20 people recently returned from Slovakia, where they had been participating in the Interwetten Ability Challenge 2010.
Activities at the event included rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, trekking, caving and paragliding.
Participants at the challenge have various levels of physical ability and disability, including Spina Bifida, Polio, hearing loss and lower limb amputation.
This event aims to create public awareness about the abilities of individuals with a physical disability. The Interwetten Ability Challenge also creates the opportunity for a group of people to strive together as a team regardless of their physical ability.
“The activity also serves to open up a new perspective on disability, showing the individual behind each mental or physical impairment and turning into a self-development experience for the able bodied,” said Inspire head of services Lidwina Schembri Wismayer
